Like I mentioned, this is the cheapest way to go but is incredibly labor intensive. All their solar/wind generation was piecemeal due to costs but does seem to work for them. I wasn't able to get any really good pictures of their snake shower/bath, but it was a really neat setup. They're doing a similar thing with graywater recycling that we are, so that was cool.
